Kinross Paracatu welcomes government officials and journalists to visit tailings facilities

Kinross Paracatu recently welcomed a delegation of journalists and government officials – including the Deputy Mayor of Paracatu– to the mine to visit the tailings facilities.

The purpose of the visit was to share Kinross’ transparent and best-in-class approach to safe and responsible tailings management which prioritizes protecting our workforce, the environment and host communities.

During the visit the delegation received a tour of the geotechnical monitoring centre which is staffed 24/7/365 by employees who ensure there are no disruptions to the day-to-day activity of the facility. The delegation then visited the tailings facility itself and participated in one of the daily in-person technical inspections to gain a better understanding of the comprehensive monitoring tasks performed each day to ensure the safety and stability of the facility.

To learn more about Kinross’ approach to safe and responsible tailings management, view our management approach here and our tailings management report here.
