In 2023, Kinross continued to prioritize ESG as central to its operating strategy through implementation of our ESG strategy focused on Workforce and Communities, Natural Capital and Climate and Energy.
As a result of this hard work, we are excited to announce Kinross maintained its high ESG ratings and was recognized with two prestigious rankings from S&P Global, received at the end of 2023, and to start the year in 2024.
In December 2023, S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) ranked Kinross in the 98th percentile, leading to our recognition as a constituent of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) World Index for the year, and the S&P ESG 1200. The DJSI was launched in 1999 as the pioneering series of global sustainability benchmarking available in the market and uses float-adjusted market capitalization weighted indices to measure the performance of companies selected using environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria.
In addition, Kinross was named to the 2024 S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook for the 12th year! Kinross was one of 759 companies named to the Yearbook in 2024, with over 9,400 companies assessed under S&P Global CSA. Companies named to the Yearbook must meet the requirements of scoring within the top 15% of their industry, and achieve a score within 30% of their industry’s top performing companies.
“Operating responsibly, delivering on our commitments and advancing our ESG strategy continue to be key principles of our day-to-day operations,” said J. Paul Rollinson, CEO. ”Being named a constituent of the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index reflects on our commitment to corporate citizenship as a core value, and a key strategic driver of our business.”
