Kinross Russia sponsored the first ‘Magadan Half Marathon’, which was hosted by the local government to commemorate the city’s 90th anniversary.
The event brought together over 400 participants for some friendly competition to promote health and wellness. Claude Schimper, Senior Vice-President, Russia Operations, kicked off the event that had participants run or walk 5, 10 or 21km. Yuri Grishan, Mayor of Magadan, attended the event and participated in the 5km run along with Claude.
“This was an excellent event that united our community in the celebration of a significant milestone for our city,” said Yuri Grishan, Mayor of Magadan. “A special thanks to the Kinross team for turning this vision into a reality, and executing the day flawlessly.”
To conclude the event, Claude presented awards to the winners, and spoke about Kinross’ commitment to the community, including promoting a healthy lifestyle.
“We are very pleased with the half marathon’s turnout, it is always great to see our community come together for a great cause,” said Claude. “We look forward to carrying on this tradition for years to come, and hopefully making it even bigger!”
