Kinross recently hosted its second annual street ball (basketball) competition in Magadan, with 90 players on 23 teams competing.
The day brought youth and young adults together for friendly but fierce games as teams battled it out on the court for a full afternoon.
The tournament is a Kinross-sponsored joint project with the city and regional sports committees in the community.
“It’s important for us to be involved in the community,” said Claude Schimper, Regional Vice-President, Russia. “Bringing people together while encouraging sport is something that we are proud to do.”
Employees from the Magadan office volunteered their time to plan and run the competition.
“It was a fun day and a positive way for employees to contribute,” said Evgeniya Saevich, Regional Manager, Corporate Responsibility. “It’s the second year that we have run the competition and we hope to make it a staple event in the community.”
