Congratulations to our Round Mountain and Paracatu teams for winning Kinross’ 2021 Safety Performance awards!
J. Paul Rollinson, President & CEO, and Paul Tomory, Executive Vice-President and Chief Technical Officer, presented the awards to the teams at the 2022 Strategic Forum in Toronto at the start of May.
Round Mountain was awarded with the CTO ‘Critical Risk Management’ award, recognizing the site’s ownership and expansion of the program, their efforts to continuously improvee, and finding concrete steps to reduce risk. In 2021, Round Mountain empowered area managers to take ownership of their critical risks by implementing a site-wide awareness program. As a result, the site conducted 15 detailed critical risk reviews – the most of any site in 2021!
Paracatu was awarded the CEO ‘Best Safety Performance’ award which recognizes the site with the lowest reportable injury and severity rates for the year. In 2021, Paracatu not only had the lowest rate, but had been on a steady downward trend in both injury frequency and severity over the past three years.
“The Safety Awards are an opportunity for global leadership to come together and focus on our first priorities, and to recognize those who are leading the pack for our Company,” said Paul Rollinson. “We look forward to continuing to prioritize safety and finding ways to continue improving our safety performance in the coming years.”
