Dana Luce, Process Control Technician, Fort Knox
Dana joined Kinross over 20 years ago as a Mill Operator and quickly worked his way up to Shift Operations Lead. His outstanding performance and work ethic had him recruited to the Process Control Department in 2007.
Dana is known for his logical, mechanical and electrical skills to help solve problems and search for new solutions. Dana is passionate about learning and will self-educate himself on tasks others may not know the answer to.
Dana has been instrumental in numerous projects in the Process Control department including leach one and detox sample replacements, ore processing, installation of a belt crusher bypass conveyor, Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants 1 and 2, and upgrading the cyclone feed pump, CIC2 plant, and CIC booster station.
His most important contributions relate to RO plants 1 and 2. Dana was involved in initial construction of the RO skid and worked to develop controls for the plant to adequately discharge water. From his experience on plant 1, Dana was able to lead the control manufacturing for plant 2, which is currently in commissioning.
Dana’s skills and experience on plant 1 increased time savings and reduced Company spending by eliminating the use of a contractor. His combined efforts on RO plants 1 and 2 is expected to save the Company approximately $115,000 per year.
Due to his keen skillset and ability to work well under pressure, Dana is often turned to for on-call night and weekend shifts, which he never turns down. Even on days off, Dana is a phone call away to provide support or come in when needed.
