Doug Heimgartner, IT Technician, Bald Mountain
Doug is known at Bald Mountain as the go-to IT problem solver. If there’s a problem with your computer, he’s the person to fix it, and he does it with a smile.
He joined Bald Mountain in early 2016 and has provided prompt and effective service to all employees ever since. If anyone at the site has tech-related or computer issues of any kind, Doug quickly helps solve the problems and get people get back to work.
“He has one of the busiest roles at the mine site and yet always has such a positive attitude that is contagious. Doug is always eager to help employees grow and offers to teach his colleagues whenever he can,” said one of his nominators.
Doug has a tremendous work ethic and will put in time on weekends or work longer hours to ensure everything is done to accommodate employees. He is a skilled multitasker and will put the needs of his colleagues ahead of his own.
He is also a positive ambassadors for the site. One of Doug’s responsibilities is to ensure new employees have a successful onboarding process, ranging from setting up their computers to helping them navigate Kinross’ internal servers. As one of the first faces that new hires see at the site, he goes above and beyond to make people feel comfortable at Bald Mountain.
Doug was also responsible for setting up internal servers for the health and safety department at Bald Mountain. This important system involves tracking vital data so that hazardous chemicals at the site can always be monitored, sorted and retrieved in an effort to be as safe as possible.
