Click here to see how Paracatu’s Integrar ‘Education for the Future” program is supporting youth development and education in the community.
Since 2011, Integrar, a Kinross community development program, has partnered with neighbouring schools to provide tutoring support and educational workshops on a wide range of topics from literature to sports and the environment.
The results have already made positive impacts. Before Integrar began, 19 schools around the Paracatu area were considered ‘slightly below average’ compared with Brazil’s national average. Now, 83% of schools that participate in Integrar have test scores above the national average.
“It’s about long-term sustainability in communities where we operate. When we created Integrar, we built on what already existed here in Paracatu,” said Ana Maria Ferreira Cunha, Senior Manager, Community Relations and Communications, Paracatu.
“Integrar is giving students the tools so that they can grow and it enhances their overall education,” said Valeria de Fatima Souza, the Principal of Maria Trinidade Rodrigues School in Paracatu.
“For us, being a good corporate citizen is part of our DNA,” continued Ana.
