When the project began, Kinross employees noticed an overwhelming amount of support from community members who wanted to be involved.
Employees have started to train community members on proper methods for monitoring and maintaining water quality. The community also provides feedback and new ideas on how to improve the program across the region.
“We are happy to work on this project with our neighbours, and we see it as having long-term positive effects on the environment,” said Julio Acosta, Environment Superintendent, La Coipa. “Kinross is committed to being an outstanding corporate citizen and the success of programs like this builds when we involve community members.”
