This year marked the 10th anniversary of MINEX – Russia’s preeminent mining forum that each year attracts hundreds of attendees from around the world.
During the event, Lou Naumovski (Vice-President & General Director, Moscow Representative Office) provided an update on our Russian operations, and outlined Kinross’ recommendations for further improving Russia’s regulatory environment. Nikolay Grigoriev (General Director), reported on technical advances that are enhancing safety and efficiency at Kupol and Dvoinoye, and called for more international standards in these areas.
At the closing ceremony, Kinross was honoured to receive a Mining Excellence Award – one of the most prestigious awards in the Russian mining industry – in the category “HR Project of the Year”. The award celebrated our successful implementation of a certified professional training center at Kupol. Heidi-May Schimper, wife of Claude Schimper (Regional Vice President, Russia), also won an award in the photo competition in the category “Mining Machinery and Technologies”.
