On March 14th and 15th, Chirano hosted their second annual Inter-Community Soccer Tournament – a major local sporting event that supports relationship-building and cooperation. In 2014, just four community teams participated: this year, 12 community teams came together to compete.
Employees from Kinross Chirano cheered on their favourites over the two day tournament, and for the second year in a row, the Akoti team emerged victorious. Their captain is pictured below hoisting the first-place trophy, presented by Ken Norris (Vice-President & General Manager, Chirano). Each member of the winning team also receives a gold medal, soccer jersey, and a commemorative soccer ball.
The Anyinasie community took home silver medals, and third-place went to Surano.
“We are very pleased to see 12 teams competing for the trophy, and are grateful for their participation,” said Ken. “This is an excellent community initiative that Chirano is proud to be a part of.”
