See the winners of West Africa’s ‘Our Hands Matter’ photo contest

Employees from our Tasiast and Chirano sites and the Las Palmas office participated in a photo contest to raise awareness about the importance of protecting our hands in the workplace.

Health and safety awareness is a top priority at Kinross, and efforts to focus on hand safety has successfully reduced injuries. Workplace hand injuries are down 33% at Chirano and 17% at Tasiast in Q1 2017 compared to Q1 2016.

The judges had a tough decision to make when narrowing down the finalists. Here are the top three photos:

First place: Nana Adjei Amoah, Services, Chirano

Second place: Mohamed Elmamy, Short Range Planning Engineer, Tasiast

Third place: Abdallahi Erebih, Field Advisor, Tasiast

The winning pictures have been made into posters that are displayed at the sites. Congratulations to the following employees for their notable pictures:

Chirano: Kenneth Nana Owusus, Crusher Leading Hand, Ernest Asiedu, Senior Safety Officer, and Francis Nyarko, Community Relations Analyst

Tasiast: Sileye Amadou Sow, Mine Maintenance, and Cheikh Mohamed, Technician

Las Palmas: Adrian Castro, Total Rewards Analyst
