The global Supply Chain team has once again seen the benefits of their cross-site learning program. This time, it was to support the Russian deployment of a warehouse management solution, RF Smart, otherwise known as the Barcoding Project, with Russian and Tasiast employees.
The project is a warehouse management solution that utilizes barcodes and handheld scanning devices to manage various day-to-day tasks with more efficiency and less administration. This new technology increases organization in the warehouse and helps employees find items quickly and accurately, giving them more time to focus on other duties. This technology has been rolling out across all sites for the past two years.
Through the People Share Program, eight supply chain members and one translator travelled from Russia to Tasiast to learn bar-coding techniques that will be implemented in their warehouse as well as share warehouse management best practices between the both sites.
“The People Share Program is more than sharing work-related improvements. The Program encourages employees performing similar tasks in different parts of the world to come together and learn about one another’s culture and operations at their site,” said Bryan Murphy, Supply Chain Enablement Manager, Toronto. “The People Share Program has been a great success in 2017. We look forward to formalizing and expanding the program in 2018!”
This cross-site learning program allows front line team members to develop tactical leadership skills while working with colleagues from different cultures across Kinross. In their two weeks at Tasiast, employees were able to develop new friendships and new skills.
