Kinross receives U.S. Mining Industry’s Top Safety Certification

We are happy to announce that Kinross Gold has received the National Mining Association (NMA) independent safety certification under the CORESafety system.

CORESafety system uses a risk-based management system anchored in leadership, management and assurance to emphasize accident prevention. Within five years of implementation, the objective is to reduce injury rates by 50% and have zero fatalities.

“We are very proud to have one of the best safety records in our industry, and we continuously work to maintain and strengthen our performance,” said J. Paul Rollinson, President and CEO. “Mining responsibly is an imperative at Kinross and being certified under CORESafety ensures best practices are implemented at our operations.”

Kinross is only the eighth NMA member company to complete each step of the CORESafety system process.

“We congratulate Kinross on starting out 2018 with this noteworthy accomplishment in health and safety,” said Hal Quinn, President and CEO, National Mining Association. “Kinross’ efforts have more than proven that putting people first is a true core value for the company it goes above and beyond to make sure every employee returns home safe and healthy each night.”
