Fort Knox hosts Family Day at the mine

Last week, Fort Knox hosted Family Day at the mine, bringing together over 1,000 employees and their loved ones.

Family Day has been a tradition at Fort Knox since 1996, with generations of families visiting the mine to see how operations work and our commitment to responsible mining.

“I always look forward to family day at Fort Knox. It’s great to see employees meeting one another’s families and showing them the amazing work we do every day on site,” said Eric Hill, General Manager, Fort Knox. “As a long-standing tradition here at the mine, it is great to see familiar faces from the multiple generations of miners at Fort Knox.”

Visitors were given tours of the mill and mine. As well, each department had a booth and activity to represent their function within the Company.

A fan favorite was the environment department booth that gave away wildflower seeds for children to plant trees at home. Other activities included face painting, balloon animal stations and entertainment from clowns and magicians. For those looking to practice their mining skills, gold panning sessions took place and a gold bar was on display for photos.

As part of our commitment to responsible mining, families were asked to provide a charitable food donation to the Fairbanks Community Food Bank upon arrival. As a result, almost 900 pounds of food were donated to the charity.
