As a Geology Manager, how has your role varied from site to site?

My primary role as a geologist is to ensure that my team is adhering to industry regulations and organizational standards, and their health and safety is preserved. The role also entails: direction of ore control, execution of definition and ore control drilling programs, estimating short-term reserves, and training the geologic staff in all facets of mine geology.

There are many differences between Kupol and Tasiast, such as the geographical location, culture and languages, to name a few. The key difference that comes to mind is that Kupol has an established Geology department. For example, at Kupol systems, processes, and procedures are in place. At Tasiast, greater focus is on training, and creating all the systems and processes for the geology department as a whole.
