Brahim joined Kinross in 2020 and has become a key member of Kinross Tasiast’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) due to his bravery and heroic actions that have been instrumental in keeping his colleagues and the workplace safe.
When a mill fire occurred at Tasiast in 2021, Brahim was one of the first responders on site. He made multiple trips into the mill over the course of the evening to safely extinguish the fire and prevent further damage to the site. These actions earned him the local ‘One Tasiast’ award due to his dedication to safeguarding property and the lives of his peers.
Brahim’s heroism was later tested outside the workplace during a commercial flight when a passenger went into distress. Brahim used his training as an ERT to provide the passenger with medical aid and bring her back to good health until the plane was able to land and she could be treated by medical professionals. Brahim’s unwavering commitment to safety and the well-being of others from this act earned him recognition both internally and in the national Mauritanian news channel.
“Brahim’s sense of urgency and initiative, coupled with his passion for professional development and safety, have significantly elevated team morale and engagement at Tasiast. We are lucky to have someone as committed to the well-being of others as Brahim is on our team.”
