Kinross announces new Chief Financial Officer

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Andrea Freeborough as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective May 1, 2019.

“Andrea’s successful track record at Kinross and throughout her career, including accounting, international finance, M&A, and deep management experience, will be an excellent addition to our leadership team,” said J. Paul Rollinson, President & CEO.

Since Andrea joined Kinross in 2009 as Vice-President, Corporate Controller, she has held various roles with increasing responsibility and diverse expertise. In 2013, she took on additional responsibility as Vice-President, Finance, building and strengthening the Finance team of up to 25 people, centralizing certain Finance functions, and leading the finance aspects of due diligence and integration of all M&A projects and company financings.

In 2017, she took on the role of Vice-President, Investor Relations and Corporate Development, providing leadership for the acquisition of two hydroelectric power plants in Brazil and helping drive investor engagement.

In 2016, she was named one of the “100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining” by Women in Mining (UK).

“I am excited to be taking on this leadership role at Kinross and this new challenge in my career,” said Andrea. “I am looking forward to working with the great teams we have across all our operations and offices and ensure we maintain and improve the financial strength of our company.”

Andrea previously worked at KPMG in senior roles at their Toronto, London (UK) and New York/New Jersey offices. She is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours, Co-op) from Wilfrid Laurier University.

A priority at Kinross is to develop talent, leadership skills and succession planning. “We have great talent at Kinross and succession planning is a key aspect of retaining that talent for the future success of our Company,” said Paul.
