Kinross attends PDAC 2023!

At the beginning of March, Kinross attended the 2023 Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada’s (PDAC) Convention!

PDAC is the leading voice of the mineral exploration and development community, an industry that supports 719,000 people in direct and indirect employment, and contributes over $106 billion to Canada’s GDP every year. Each year, PDAC hosts the world’s premier mineral exploration and mining convention, which is the leading event for people, companies and organizations connected to mineral exploration.

This year, Kinross hosted a booth at the investor exchange for prospectors and developers to speak with employees and learn more about the Company. This included representatives from our Toronto office, and geologists, human resources and environmental representatives from our Great Bear project in Red Lake, Ontario, who shared their knowledge on the project and exciting activities ongoing at the site.

Representatives from Kinross’ leadership team were also present at the convention including Paul Rollinson, President & CEO, Geoff Gold, Executive Vice-President, Corporate Development, External Relations and Chief Legal Officer, and Mike van Akkooi, Senior Vice-President, External Affairs, who met with the Ontario Minister of Mines, George Pirie, to discuss the Great Bear project. Paul also met with the Chiefs of the Lac Seul and Wabauskang First Nations that are in the Great Bear project area.

Mike was then joined by Dominic Channer, Vice-President, Community Relations, and Ana Cunha, Director, Government Relations and Social Responsibility, Kinross Brazil, to meet with the Mayor of Paracatu Igor Santos, to discuss Kinross’ operations and ESG efforts in Brazil. Mike later met with the Mayor of Red Lake, Fred Mota, who also visited the Kinross booth during the convention.

Kinross additionally sponsored the Mauritania pavilion at the convention as part of our agreement with the Minister of Mines to attend and support PDAC and INDABA over the next three-years in an effort to promote Mauritania as an investment destination. Kinross was also a sponsor of the Red Lake booth in the countries pavilion.

“PDAC is always an exciting time to connect with old, new and future partners whether that be government officials, community partners, investors, or even future employees” said Mike. “The past few years have been challenging to bring that same connectivity to PDAC due to the pandemic, however I believe this year has made up for lost time. It was a pleasure to connect with our global partners and continue to grow relations especially from an ESG perspective. We look forward to continuing to build our relationships with these partners over 2023, and in years to come.”
