In May, Kinross Brasil celebrated ‘Miner’s Day’ by hosting a virtual celebration bringing together over 1,400 attendees, which included over 800 employees and their families! Prior to COVID-19, the event was called “Labor Day”, held in person and attended by employees and their families.
The purpose of the event was to strengthen employees’ pride in being a part of the mining industry while reinforcing our culture and commitment to working together in an inclusive environment, particularly during the pandemic.

The event was hosted by Rodrigo Gomides, Operations Director and Deputy General Manager, Paracatu, and Ana Cunha, Government Relations, and Social Responsibility, Director, Paracatu, and included guest speakers Leila Ferreira, and comedian Marco Luque.
The event kicked off with a message from the Gilberto Azevedo, President, and General Manager, Paracatu, and one-minute of silence to mark health and safety in the workplace. Attendees were then shown an employee tribute video and then had an opportunity to win prizes by participating in a series of games, including bingo and a ‘Tik Tok’ contest with the theme ‘Proud to be a Miner’.
“Miner’s Day was an excellent opportunity to connect our employees and their families with one another while maintaining the health and safety of our people,” said Karol Amorim, Head of Communication and Community Department. “During these challenging times, continuing to build team comradery is crucial for the success of our operation and we are thrilled with the positive feedback we have received from our workforce for this event.”
