Kinross Brazil donates R$10 million to support renovations at local hospital

We are pleased to announce Kinross Brazil has partnered with the City of Paracatu to provide a R$10 million (~US$2.7 million) donation to the Municipal Hospital of Paracatu.

The Municipal Hospital of Paracatu is the main public health centre in the city with over 650 patients receiving care each day, and over 800 health professionals employed. The donation will support the renovation of the hospital facilities to ensure they continue to provide necessary medical, sanitary and emergency care.

“At Kinross Brazil, we seek joint solutions that are effective and aligned with the needs of the city, and healthcare is an important pillar of their needs,” said Ana Cunha, Director of Government Relations and Social Responsibility, Kinross Brazil.

“Our Municipal Hospital is the biggest and best in the entire Northwest region and one of the most prepared in the interior of the State of Minas Gerais, but it has been in need of a thorough renovation for years,” said Igor Santos, Mayor of Paracatu. “This partnership with Kinross, which provides for a contribution of R$10 million for renovation, will enable greater safety, more quality in health and will enable our hospital to implement new technologies in health. If we already had a large public hospital, with this partnership we will have a hospital of greater excellence.”

Since 2011, Kinross has partnered with the Municipal Hospital of Paracatu to provide investments to support the funding of medical supplies and equipment, and the expansion of the hospital that included a new emergency room and inpatient care centre with 55 beds.
