Kinross celebrates 25 years

Happy New Year and welcome back to Kinross World! This new year marks an exciting milestone for Kinross as the Company celebrates 25 years in operation.

Kinross entered the global gold mining business in 1993 and was listed as a publicly traded company on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) under the symbol “K” on June 3, 1993.

Back in that first year, Kinross produced 83,466 gold equivalent ounces, had revenues of $41.5 million and our average realized gold price was $389 per ounce. In 2016, Kinross produced 2.79 million gold equivalent ounces, had revenues of $3.5 billion and our average realized gold price was $1,249 per ounce. Over the past 25 years, Kinross has produced close to 40 million ounces of gold!

Since 1993, Kinross has grown to be one of the leading gold mining companies in the world, achieving numerous environmental, corporate responsibility and safety awards for its efforts to prioritize its employees and stakeholders’ well-being across all operations.

To commemorate this significant 25-year anniversary, new materials have been developed and will be shared across all sites. This includes a new anniversary logo, hard hat stickers, and a new section on our website to mark our Company’s history, people and milestones.

Stay tuned for what’s in store at Kinross for 2018!
