Last month, Kinross concluded the global ‘Destination GO’ challenge, which promoted a healthy lifestyle through friendly competition and connected employees from our different operating regions.
Over the course of nine weeks, employees put themselves into teams of up to seven and began tracking their steps to see who could reign supreme and take home the grand prize for most steps taken over the challenge.
The challenge had employees participate in peer-to-peer mini challenges, group challenges and daily healthy habit tracking to score points. In total, 206 employees across 36 teams participated in the challenge, and traveled over 109 million steps or 87,682 kilometres – the equivalent of walking around the earth twice!
In the end, the ‘Kolyma Speedwalkers’ from Russia took home first place with over 7 million steps taken between participants – special recognition to Alexey Khokhlenok, Senior IT Developer, Magadan, from the ‘Powered by IT Russia’ team who was the top global stepper with 2,197,092 steps taken over the challenge!
“Destination GO was a helpful tool to motivate employees across our global operations to practice a more active, healthy lifestyle,” said Maxim Terentyev, Security Manager, Magadan, and Team Captain of the ‘Kolyma Speedwalkers’. “We monitored the progress of our peers and encouraged ourselves to do better each week. We thank our competitors for a great experience and look forward to more challenges that push us to succeed in health and wellness in the future!”
Congratulations to all teams who participated and to our winners on these impressive results and commitment to health and well-being!
