Kinross Russia hosts ‘Eureka Festival’ in Magadan

Kinross Russia recently hosted the annual ‘Eureka Festival’ in Magadan, bringing together over 1,200 children and their families for a day of education, athletics, and arts & crafts. The Kinross-sponsored event was organized with the help of volunteers from our regional office and students from the local Polytechnic Institute and North-East University.

This year’s celebration marked the 90th anniversary of Magadan and was attended by Claude Schimper, Senior Vice-President, Russia Operations, and Yury Grishan, Mayor of Magadan.

The festival had special events for all ages including a virtual reality wildlife tour, a molecular gastronomy class, a streetball tournament and a dance battle. In honour of Magadan’s anniversary, a special emphasis on the culture of the region was celebrated with historical lessons and traditional arctic games!

“The Eureka Festival is an exciting event that unites the Kinross family and the community of Magadan,” said Claude. “Each year, this event promotes education, sports and the cultural history of our region to youth in Magadan. We are proud to put on this event and to continue investing in our community.” +
