Kinross received high scores and earned the top spot among gold mining companies in the 2019 Globe and Mail “Board Games,” an annual ranking of governance practices of large Canadian companies.

The Globe and Mail “Board Games” examines 224 boards of directors in the S&P/TSX Composite Index to assess the quality of their governance practices. The comprehensive ranking evaluates board independence, diversity, compensation and disclosures, among other criteria.
Kinross’ board received a total score of 91/100 for 2019 and placed third in the “Materials” category. A full list of companies and their rankings are available here.
The annual ranking is conducted by the David and Sharon Johnston Centre for Corporate Governance Innovation at the University of Toronto.
