On July 19th, Kinross representatives welcomed Ontario’s Minister of Mines George Pirie and MPP & Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Mines Anthony Leardi to visit the Great Bear project in Red Lake.
The delegation met with Geoff Gold, Executive Vice-President, Corporate Development, External Relations and Chief Legal Officer, Ian Russell, Site Manager, Great Bear, Luke Jalsevac, Vice-President and Project Director, Great Bear, Rick Greenwood, Exploration Manager, Great Bear, Ashley Moncrief, Environmental Manager, Great Bear, and Crystal McCullough, Senior Project Geologist, Great Bear. The Kinross team gave a tour of the property including the core shack, head office and exploration site to detail the exciting exploration work being done, and what the future of the mine site looks like.
The visit was an excellent opportunity to highlight the progress being made on the project, upcoming project plans, and ongoing sustainability and community relations initiatives taking place in Red Lake. The delegation also had a chance to meet with the Mayor of Red Lake Fred Mota who also attended the site visit.
“It was a pleasure to provide a project update and site tour to Minister Pirie and MPP Anthony Liardi. The team had an excellent discussion and summary review of the project status with Minister Pirie,” said Ian. “It is clear that the Minister and government are fully supportive and excited for the future development of this project.”
