Welcome back to our COVID-19 Champions column on Kinross World!
In mid-May, we launched the program as a global employee recognition initiative dedicated to celebrating those who are making a difference during the COVID-19 pandemic by finding innovative ways to support their colleagues, the Company and the community.
The program aims to recognize employees who are going above and beyond to make a positive contribution in the areas of health and safety, innovation, community support and increasing team morale.
This week, we feature Svetlana Nesterova, Senior Dispatcher, Logistics and Procurement from Pevek, Russia who has been recognized for providing support to her colleagues working long-than-usual rotations at our Pevek operation.
At the start of the pandemic, Svetlana was assigned to work from home as corporate offices began closing. While she was able to maintain productivity and efficiency remotely, she recognized the challenges her colleagues may be facing working on extended rotations and the need for products not available on site.
In an effort to improve her colleagues’ living conditions, Svetlana began taking requests from on-site employees to coordinate the purchase and delivery of personal items ranging from hygienic products, special treats, and even local newspapers to our remote operations. This helped colleagues have access to items not available on site while providing a sense of comfort from home.
As a result of her efforts, Svetlana has provided over twenty employees with items that would not have been accessible without her support.
“Svetlana has been recognized across Pevek for her empathetic attitude, and caring assistance to employees working on challenging, long-term rotations,” said Alexander Slobodyanik, Deputy Head of Pevek Operation. “Her dedication to providing support goes above her day-to-day tasks and makes a difference in her colleagues’ lives. Svetlana is a true COVID-19 Champion.”
