Russia provides US$1.82 million to support local communities during COVID-19

Kinross Russia recently provided US$1.82 million to healthcare institutions in the Chukotka, Magadan and Khabarovsk regions of Russia to aid in their fight against COVID-19.

The donation includes an $US820,000 contribution to the Chukotka region, where the Kupol and Dvoinoye mines are located, for medical supplies and equipment to the Chukotka District Hospital.

The Company has allocated $US500,000 each for the Magadan and Khabarovsk regions, where respectively, our regional head office and new Chulbatkan development project are located. The Company is coordinating with local health authorities to ensure its contributions to the regions’ fight against the pandemic will be utilized in the most effective way.

“Kinross has been working in Russia for more than 25 years, and we have built strong partnerships with our host communities based on mutual respect and trust,” said Claude Schimper, Senior Vice-President of Operations, Russia. “We are making our contribution to the collective effort to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on the Russian Far East, prioritizing the health and well-being of its residents.”

Kinross continues to implement local response plans designed in accordance with best practices and guidelines received from local health authorities to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
