See how Kinross Tasiast celebrated Mauritania’s Independence Day

On November 28th, Kinross Tasiast celebrated Mauritania’s 62nd Independence Day alongside senior representatives including Claude Schimper, Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer, and Gil Lawson, Interim General Manager, Tasiast.

The day began with Kinross representatives joining military personnel to participate in the Independence Day parade where the Mauritanian flag was raised during a commemorative ceremony. Claude and Gil then led participants through an exhibition hosted by Kinross Tasiast that showcased the diverse culture of Mauritania and the ongoing efforts by the Company to embed and grow the culture within Tasiast.

The day concluded with the fifth annual ‘GM’s Soccer Tournament,’ which is held each year on Independence Day, and sees different departments within the mine site go head-to-head for the championship title.

Congratulations to the Human Resources team who won 3-1 against the Safety team and was presented with the Championship trophy by Claude and Gil!
