Benny joined Kinross in 2011 and has become known for his reliability and willingness to go above and beyond to support his colleagues and members of the community.
In addition to his role as a mechanic, Benny volunteers on the Bald Mountain Mine Rescue team and was a key member during the 2023 Mine Rescue Olympiad where they took home top scores.
Earlier this year, Benny’s mine rescue skills were put to the test when the team was notified by White Pine County of a resident’s vehicle fire between Ely and Bald Mountain. Benny and his team sprang into action, locating the fire, safely extinguishing it, and coordinating assistance to transport the two passengers of the vehicle back to Eureka. Benny and his team not only mitigated harm but helped strengthen the ties between Kinross and White Pine County by using our resources to support community members in need.
Outside of the workplace, Benny volunteers at the Battle Born Youth Challenge Academy that is focused on training youth with valuable life skills such as teamwork and project management, and encourages his peers to join him .
“Benny displays Outstanding Corporate Citizenship through all activities of his day. The way he presents himself, talks about the Company, advocates for safety in the community and truly embodies our values both inside and outside of work is remarkable. He is definitely a Kinross employee in his heart and soul,” said Joseph Zeman, Maintenance Crew Supervisor, Bald Mountain.
