Silver Winner: Daniel Dockery, Mobile Mechanic, Bald Mountain

Daniel Dockery, Mobile Mechanic, Bald Mountain

Daniel (Dan) joined Kinross in 2018 as a gas shop mechanic and became a Mobile Mechanic shortly thereafter. Since joining Kinross, Dan has been recognized for going above the call of duty and always looking at the site’s long-term needs.

Most recently, Dan championed an initiative to build a generator Preventative Maintenance (PM) truck that can support field oil changes instead of relying on external contractors, saving the Company approximately US$30,000 to date.

He has also secured four pieces of towing equipment for the site and developed a light vehicle rotation plan that will optimize the use of vehicles on site instead of outsourcing or purchasing new ones.

Dan is always searching for ways to reduce costs and finding the quickest, most efficient solutions for sourcing materials. He strives to do more with what is available and will promptly find the resources needed or will go out of his way to source them himself.  When a part is needed and there is not enough time to have it delivered, Dan will volunteer himself to drive into town to pick it up to ensure our operations do not lose time.

“Dan has been a valuable member of our Bald Mountain team since joining us and his commitment to making our operation more productive, and cost effective does not go unnoticed,” said Dale Thompson, Maintenance Manager, Bald Mountain. “Whenever his assistance is needed, he goes out of his way to find a solution. He takes pride in his work and never takes the easy way out. When a problem is in Dan’s hands, we can be sure it will be handled, without shortcuts and in the most efficient way possible.”
