Silver winner: Jack Follet, Equipment Operator, Fort Knox

Jack Follet, Equipment Operator, Fort Knox

Jack is an experienced shovel operator with over 15 years working at Kinross Fort Knox, where his knowledge and experience at the site have helped him to exceed expectations and be a source of inspiration for his colleagues.

As a seasoned operator, Jack is passionate about identifying solutions to enhance productivity and finding ways to implement those solutions across site. In Q1 2024, Jack was instrumental in implementing shovel productivity improvements that allowed the site to exceed budgetary mine volumes by 8%, resulting in Fort Knox achieving their targets.

Jack is not only an outstanding performer, but a mentor to new employees, in particular the next generation of miners. Jack believes through providing coaching and shared experience, he can support the development of operators who prioritize innovation, productivity and, most importantly, high safety standards.

This is not Jack’s first time being recognized for his performance – in March 2024 he received the ‘Gold Digger Award’ at the Kinross Alaska Champions of Mining Event that is awarded to the most outstanding loading unit operator at Kinross Alaska.

“Jack’s experience speaks for itself and what he’s capable of doing. He not only has the top three KPIs in any loading equipment he operates, but he gets the job done effectively, efficiently and most important safely.”
