Nathan ‘Nate’, joined Bald Mountain in 2006 working as a Mine Operations/Dispatch Trainer and became a Maintenance Dispatcher in 2019.
Since joining the maintenance dispatch department, Nate has become an essential member of the team who is constantly looking for new ways to innovate and improve processes for his colleagues.
When Nate found out cabin-related issues were the most frequent cause of failure for trucks, he developed a quick process for checking lights and repairs that will improve trucking conditions and reduce time spent in the maintenance shop. For equipment sent to the shop, Nate was proactive in creating a spreadsheet to communicate clear updates for equipment repair needs, which to date has supported over 300 work orders for operators.
Nate is passionate about tasking himself with projects that improve both part availability and reliability by finding new ways to get parts cheaper and faster. He recently came up with an alternative to replace the lights on the dash of Komatsu haul trucks that will save the Company US$28,000, and was also responsible for expediting new stickers for the haul trucks by spending his personal time researching and sourcing stickers at a reduced cost.
Nate is a high performer who relies on feedback from his colleagues to make informed decisions on what projects to tackle and the benefits they will provide. He is the go-to on site for fast, accurate information about real time equipment status and is relied on by his peers for finding efficiencies at Bald Mountain.
“Nate’s experience at Bald Mountain has become an asset to the team, where he is an expert in his field, and constantly spends time innovating to achieve improved results at our site. His commitment to finding efficiencies based on feedback from his colleagues on what needs to be done is irreplaceable, and we believe having him as part of the team has contributed to the success of the operation.”
