The project began when community members expressed concern with the traffic and appearance of the area and the need for a space for recreation and community gatherings. The Corporate Responsibility team at Kinross Chile reached out to CONAF and worked together with them to develop a beautification project that would involve planting trees and garden beds, and installing benches and a commemorative art mural on the culture and history of the community.
The first stage of the project was completed in September and will be ongoing for the remainder of the year.
“We were happy to participate in this initiative that will support our community development by bringing members together in a shared space,” said Rodrigo Moscoso, General Manager, Kinross Chile. “A special thank you to our Corporate Responsibility team, CONAF and the various volunteers and organizations that supported the development of this project. Together, we can make a difference for ourselves and our community, and our teamwork has made that possible.”
