The Round Mountain Phase W expansion project continues to make strong progress, with major project elements complete or nearing completion, and commissioning of the processing circuit has now commenced, ahead of schedule.
The Phase W expansion includes a layback of the existing pit, a new heap leach pad and vertical carbon-in-column plant, relocation of some existing infrastructure, and additions to the mining fleet.
Phase W ore is now being placed on the new heap leach pad, which was completed in Q1 2019. It is 9 million square feet large, designed for 65 million tons of ore stacked up to a height of 250 feet.

In September 2017, Kinross announced it would be proceeding with the Phase W expansion. It is expected to add approximately 1.5 million gold ounces to the life of mine and extend mining by five years at one of our most consistent operations, located in one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world.
