J. Paul Rollinson, President & CEO, recently attended Russia’s annual St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), the biggest business conference of the year in the country.
SPIEF is a three-day event that brings together leading global businesses and government officials to discuss economic issues facing Russia, emerging markets, and the world.
Paul spoke on Kinross’ 20 years of success in Russia, Kinross’ commitment to investing in local communities, and strategies to attract further mining investment to Russia’s Far East.
“In ten years, both of our world-class, state of the art mines, Kupol and Dvoinoye, have jointly produced six million ounces of gold and more than 50 million ounces of silver,” said Paul. “The success we have achieved in Russia would not have been possible without our employees and the overwhelming support from Federal and Regional government officials.”
Over the three-day conference, Paul attended a meeting between President Vladimir Putin and heads of numerous international corporations, and held one-on-one discussions with Dmitry Kobylkin, Russia’s Minister for Natural Resources & Environment and Roman Kopin, Governor of Chukotka.
This was Paul’s sixth attendance at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, sharing Kinross’ global expertise with business members and government officials to help improve investments in Russia’s Far East.
