He turns challenges into solutions. Some notable examples of Andrey’s innovations and cost-saving fixes include:

Andrey in front of the in-house controls electronic controls system. 

  • Developing and installing automated mine portal gates, transforming the way employees enter the mine. Prior to this, employees had to leave their vehicles to manually open the large doors. This has cut down the time to enter the mine by half.

  • Repairing complex indoor switchgear equipment, which supplies power to the underground department.

  • Designing a reverse air flow system, ensuring air flows in and out of the underground operations.

While these initiatives could have easily been outsourced, Andrey’s determination to tackle these challenges himself, exemplifies the Kinross Way Forward and what can be achieved with creativity and hard work.
