In alignment with the UN World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development on May 21st, Kinross held a global ‘Cultural Diversity Week’ to recognize the richness of our diverse cultures across our operations.
From May 17-21st, Kinross hosted daily challenge videos on Kinross University that asked employees to think about their own culture, and how they communicate with and perceive other cultures. Employees were also given access to tools and resources to develop inclusivity techniques and better ways to work together while being cognizant of cultural diversity.
After completing the challenge, employees were asked to share their key takeaways with our Corporate Human Resources team, and share their own customs and practices in an effort to get to know our global colleagues’ various cultures.
The week concluded with a ‘Virtual Interactive Watch Party: A Celebration of Cultures’ to learn and honour our cultural diversity. Through an interactive group dialogue with employees from across our global operations, employees shared their experiences and ideas on how we can recognize and appreciate our diverse cultures, and our role in creating a more inclusive work environment.
“As a global company, it is important that we educate ourselves, recognize, and appreciate the value of our various cultures that make up our organization,” said Maria Rodmell, Director of Talent and Engagement. “Cultural Diversity Week was an opportunity to connect to what makes us who we are.”
