In mid-May, we launched the COVID-19 Champions program as a global employee recognition initiative dedicated to celebrating those who are making a difference during the COVID-19 pandemic by finding innovative ways to support their colleagues, the Company and the community.
The program aims to recognize employees who are going above and beyond to make a positive contribution in the areas of health and safety, innovation, community support and increasing team morale.
This week, we recognize Ian Ross, Regional Director, Health and Safety, Magadan, for providing community support to those less fortunate through his work with the Teesside Family Foundation!
Ian has been volunteering as the Teesside Family Foundation mascot ‘Teesside Ted’ while his wife plays ‘Teesside Tess’. Together, the pair attend various events and children’s hospitals to present donations and prizes for local charities. When the COVID-19 pandemic began, Teesside Ted and Tess took on the task of providing care packs containing food and other essential items to those in need in the Teesside community while helping spread joy during a challenging time.
“My wife and I have loved our time being Ted and Tess. We simply want to make a difference and bring happiness to those in need of a smile,” said Ian. “This pandemic has made for a difficult year, however, we feel Ted and Tess as part of such an amazing local charity are helping to improve the lives of others and building a stronger sense of community with our neighbours.”
To date, The Teesside Family Foundation has provided thousands of care packages and supported many people in need since the start of the pandemic.
The Teesside Family Foundation is a local charity in the Teesside community in the United Kingdom that supports and provides assistance to Teesside families and individuals who simply do not have the means, are underprivileged or have fallen on hard times due to ill health.
