In 2015, Jessica joined Round Mountain’s Health Centre and was quickly recognized for going above the call of duty to care for her patients and their families. She is often known to contact her patients outside of regular follow-up schedules to ensure they are feeling well and have access to the resources they need.
When the Nye Regional Medical Centre in Tonopah, Nevada closed its doors, Jessica knew the challenges associated with access to healthcare in a remote region would begin impacting the community. As a nurse, she wanted to use her background and experience to assist the community during this challenging time.
She is an active member of the Round Mountain Wellness Committee, which leads healthcare initiatives at the site. Jessica has also been instrumental in bringing community health and wellness services to the community, including, the “Mammovan” (a mobile mammogram program), chiropractic and therapy services, diabetes prevention programs, and bloodborne pathogen training. Jessica also partnered with a local community health nurse in 2019 to provide better access to flu shots for community members by administering them at the Round Mountain general store.
“A bright light at our clinic, Jessica strongly believes that through care and compassion she can change the healthcare world,” said RW Carver, Health and Safety Manager, Round Mountain. “She is always going above and beyond and will assist after hours, and genuinely cares about her patients. Employees like her make a difference in our Company and we are lucky to have her on our team.”
Jessica remains committed to outstanding corporate citizenship even while pursuing rigorous education outside of her regular working hours. She recently completed her Bachelors of Science in Nursing and has begun her Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) program – once she attains this designation, she will fill a crucial gap that exists in the community relating to access to quality medical care.
We thank Jessica for her dedication to her community, and for providing top-line healthcare services during these unprecedented times. Congratulations Jessica!
