Monica is always looking for ways to help the Company save money by finding efficiencies. She joined Kinross in 2012 as a Tax Manager and was promoted to Tax Director for her strong performance record and achievements in Chile.
Monica has been instrumental in reducing costs at Chile. Due to her vast knowledge of mining and the complexities of the Chilean tax system, she has been able to save the Company millions of dollars through efficient tax filing and claims.
She ensures that all areas of the business are aligned and in compliance with Chile’s tax regulations and in line with the corporate office.
Monica leads her team through quarterly business planning, which requires her to closely work with the other departments in the country. Those who work with her say that Monica is always quick to answer questions and help people learning the trade.
“Monica is someone who works extremely diligently to save the Company money. We all have the utmost respect for her both personally and professionally. She has been a key person responsible for ensuring that the Company is saving as much as possible,” said one of her nominators.
