Yuriy joined Kinross in 2012, working in a variety of disciplines across our Russian operations. When Yuriy joined Dvoinoye in 2018, he was passionate about building a strong team culture and making health and safety their top priority.
Over his time at Dvoinoye, the warehouse team has developed open lines of communication, including finding new ways to optimize processes, sharing best practices, health and safety tips, and looking for new challenges to make a difference in the Company. Yuriy encourages his employees to be mentors to new hires and to balance each other’s strengths and weaknesses.
Yuriy believes a healthy employee is the most productive employee and in an effort to combine teamwork and health and wellness, he regularly organizes team-building activities such as sports events and competitions between the Dvoinoye and Kupol mine sites.
While team building is a passion of Yuriy’s, his most important commitment is to employees’ health and safety. During his time at Dvoinoye, Yuriy championed and sourced a special anti-static, fuel-oil resistant uniform for fuel farm team members, and arranged for additional safety inspections of fuel tanks at the mine to prevent and monitor any potential accidents.
In his spare time, Yuriy is passionate about living a healthy lifestyle and participates in sporting events such as hockey, football, volleyball, and bodybuilding. Yuriy and his wife are also avid volunteers at the animal shelter in their hometown Omsk – a testament to how he lives Kinross’ values both at work and in his personal life.
“I’ve worked with Yuriy for a long time now – his ability to bring together our team and build strong comradery both inside and outside the workplace is irreplaceable,” said Nikolay Danilkin, Fuel Farm Operator, Dvoinoye. “Aside from his team building skills, we know we are always in good hands with Yuriy as our superintendent. He genuinely cares for his employees and wants to ensure their safety.”
