See how Kinross celebrated ‘Pride’ during the month of June across the Americas!

In June, Kinross celebrated ‘Pride’ month, an opportunity to celebrate the LGBTQ2S+ community, their culture, achievements and activism while increasing awareness for ongoing issues of inequality.

During the month, Kinross’ Corporate HR team hosted a series of virtual employee engagement activities and webinars to further educate our employees on the history of the LGBTQ2S+ community, and how to be an ally both inside and outside of the workplace to create and support an inclusive environment for employees of all gender and sexual orientations.

Employees from our North and South American sites were encouraged to participate in a ‘LinkedIn Learning Challenge’ that provided a series of micro training sessions via our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Corner to learn tangible skills, knowledge and understanding of creating environments that are inclusive, respectful and welcoming.

Employees also participated in the ‘Gender and Sexual Diversity: Stories of Belonging’ Webinar with Kathleen Grandy, Senior Vice-President, Human Resources, and guest speaker Kai Scott, President and Speaker of ‘TransFocus’. The seminar unpacked the LGBTQ2S+ acronym to gain a deeper understanding, provided insight about the challenges and barriers individuals  face, and provided an opportunity to ask questions. The session concluded with powerful employee testimonials from their lived experiences. Kinross employees can access these personal stories here.

Lastly, in Toronto our employees participated in a ‘Pride Trivia Challenge’ that encouraged teams to find out more about the history of the LGBTQ+ movement in a fun, collaborative way. Employees could then retrieve stickers from the staff lounge, that was decked out in Pride décor, to hang in their workspace to show support for their LGBTQ2S+ colleagues.
